Target Information

Interleukin-4 (IL-4) is a pleiotropic, immune-modulatory cytokine produced by activated T cells and serves as a ligand for the interleukin 4 receptor. IL-4 has a broad range of biological actions and shares overlapping functions with IL-13 through receptor binding. STAT6 is a key transcription factor mediating IL-4 signaling. The IL-4 gene is located on chromosome 5q within a cytokine gene cluster alongside IL-3, IL-5, IL-13, and CSF2, and is closely associated with IL-13. IL-4, IL-13, and IL-5 are co-regulated by long-range elements spanning approximately 120 kb. IL-4 delta 2 is a known splice variant of IL-4.
