Product Specific Information
- In ELISAs, this antibody does not cross-react with recombinant mouse IGF-I, mouse IGF-II, or recombinant human IGF-II.
- Reconstitute at 0.5 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
Target Information
IGF1 (Insulin-like Growth Factor-1) is structurally and functionally related to insulin but has higher growth-promoting activity. It induces various cellular responses such as proliferation, differentiation, migration, and survival.
- Stimulates proliferation of muscle, bone, and cartilage cells
- Enhances glucose transport and glycogen/DNA synthesis at low concentrations
- Predominantly circulates bound to IGF-binding proteins (IGFBPs), which prolong its half-life
- Activates the AKT signaling pathway, promoting proliferation and inhibiting apoptosis
- Mature human IGF-I is 100% homologous with bovine and porcine IGF-I
- Low IGF1 levels are linked to Alzheimer’s disease
- Defects in the IGF1 gene cause insulin-like growth factor 1 deficiency
