Target Information

SRPK2, along with SRPK1, is likely the cellular protein kinase mediating HBV core protein phosphorylation during viral infection, representing an important host cell target for therapeutic intervention in HBV infection.
It promotes neuronal apoptosis by up-regulating cyclin-D1 (CCND1) expression through phosphorylation of SRSF2, leading to suppression of p53/TP53 phosphorylation and relieving its repressive effect on cyclin-D1 expression.
SRPK2 phosphorylates ACIN1, redistributing it from nuclear speckles to the nucleoplasm, resulting in up-regulation of cyclin A1 but not cyclin A2. It plays an essential role in spliceosomal B complex formation via phosphorylation of DDX23/PRP28 and negatively regulates HBV replication by reducing pregenomic RNA packaging efficiency.
