Antibody detects endogenous levels of DYN1 only when phosphorylated at Serine 778.

Target Information

Dynamin is a GTPase required for endocytosis of clathrin-coated vesicles from the membrane. Its role was first identified in Drosophila melanogaster through the temperature-sensitive shibire mutation.
Mammals have three closely related isoforms:

• Dynamin 1: Expressed exclusively in neurons
• Dynamin 2: Ubiquitously expressed
• Dynamin 3: Expressed primarily in testes

Each isoform has several splice variants, suggesting distinct intracellular targets or vesicle budding functions.
Common structural domains include:

• N-terminal GTPase domain
• Central pleckstrin homology domain
• Proline-rich C-terminal region with Src homology 3 (SH3) domains

These SH3 domains mediate interactions with clathrin-coated pits and proteins such as AP2 adaptor complex and amphiphysin.
