• In direct ELISAs and Western blots, less than 1% cross-reactivity with recombinant human Fas is observed.
• Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS.

Target Information

FAS (Fas, CD95, APO-1) is a 46 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein functioning as a cell death receptor in the TNFR (tumor necrosis factor receptor) superfamily. It also exists in a soluble form (~26 kDa). Upon stimulation, FAS aggregates its intracellular FAS-associated death domains (FADD), forming the death-inducing signaling complex (DISC) and activating caspases. The subsequent cascade triggers apoptosis.
FAS can activate NF-kappaB, MAPK3/ERK1, and MAPK8/JNK pathways, and is involved in proliferative signaling in fibroblasts and T cells. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants exist, some lacking the transmembrane domain, which may negatively regulate apoptosis mediated by the full-length isoform.
The Fas/Fas ligand system plays roles in diseases such as AIDS, hepatitis, and cancer, and is crucial in antiviral immune responses via apoptosis induction.
