PA1-080 detects Ran binding protein 1 (RanBP1) from human and mouse cells.
It has been successfully used in Western blot procedures, detecting an approximately 30 kDa protein representing RanBP1 from HeLa cell extract.
The immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues M(1) A A A K D T H E D H D T S T E N T(18) C of human RanBP1.
The immunizing peptide (Cat. # PEP-128) is available for use in neutralization and control experiments.

Target Information

Ran/TC4-binding protein (RanBP1) interacts specifically with GTP-charged RAN.
RANBP1 encodes a 23-kDa protein that binds to RAN complexed with GTP but not GDP.
It does not activate GTPase activity of RAN but markedly increases GTP hydrolysis by RanGTPase-activating protein (RanGAP1).
The RANBP1 cDNA encodes a 201-amino acid protein that shows 92% similarity to its mouse homolog.
In both mammalian cells and yeast, RANBP1 acts as a negative regulator of RCC1 by inhibiting RCC1-stimulated guanine nucleotide release from RAN.
