PA1-082 detects Ran binding protein 2 (RanBP2) from human and bovine retina.
This antibody has been successfully used in Western blot and immunohistochemistry procedures.
By Western blot, it detects an approximately 360 kDa protein representing RanBP2 from bovine retinal extracts.
Immunohistochemical staining of bovine retina with PA1-082 results in cytoplasmic staining of cells within the inner nuclear layer as well as the ganglion cells.

The immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues M(1)RRSKADVERYIASVQGS(18) of human RanBP2, completely conserved between human and mouse.
The PA1-082 immunizing peptide (Cat. # PEP-137) is available for use in neutralization and control experiments.

Target Information

RanBP2 interacts with the small GTP-binding protein Ran and forms a large multiprotein complex involved in various biological processes such as mRNA processing, nuclear transport, cell cycle control, and postmitotic nuclear reassembly.
It is identified by western blotting as an apparent molecular mass of 360 kDa.
RanBP2 is also involved in microtubule nucleation and the control of cell growth through interaction with multiple protein factors.
