PA1-082 detects Ran binding protein 2 (RanBP2) from human and bovine retina.

PA1-082 has been successfully used in Western blot and immunohistochemistry procedures. By Western blot, this antibody detects an ~360 kDa protein representing RanBP2 from bovine retinal extracts. Immunohistochemical staining of bovine retina with PA1-082 results in cytoplasmic staining of cells within the inner nuclear layer as well as the ganglion cells.

The PA1-082 immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues M(1) R R S K A D V E R Y I A S V Q G S(18) of human RanBP2. This sequence is completely conserved between human and mouse. The PA1-082 immunizing peptide (Cat. # PEP-137) is available for use in neutralization and control experiments.

Target Information

RanBP2 interacts with the small GTP-binding protein Ran and forms a large multiprotein complex involved in many biological processes such as mRNA processing, nuclear transport, cell cycle control and postmitotic nuclear reassembly. The protein is identified by western blotting as an apparent molecular mass of 360 kD. It is involved in nucleation of microtubule and control of cell growth by interacting with many protein factors.
