Target Information
The Golgi apparatus participates in glycosylation and transport of proteins and lipids in the secretory pathway. It consists of stacked cisternae (flattened membrane sacs). Interactions between the Golgi and microtubules are important for Golgi reorganization after mitotic fragmentation.
This gene encodes one of the golgins, a family of proteins localized to the Golgi, implicated in cisternae stacking and vesicular transport. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described, though their full-length nature is undetermined.
