Target Information
CAMK4 (CaMKIV) is a serine/threonine protein kinase that phosphorylates CREB, oncoprotein 18, and SRF. It has limited tissue distribution and is involved in transcriptional regulation in lymphocytes, neurons, and male germ cells. Its nuclear localization supports its role in calcium-dependent gene expression. CaMKIV is abundant in testis, T-cells, and neurons, and contributes to synaptic plasticity and calcium signaling. In testes, CaMKIV is associated with chromatin, suggesting a role in chromatin remodeling during spermatid nuclear condensation.
