Target Information
The TRAF1 protein is a member of the TNF receptor-associated factor (TRAF) family. TRAF proteins mediate signal transduction from TNFR superfamily receptors.
TRAF1 forms a heterodimeric complex with TRAF2, essential for TNF-α-mediated activation of MAPK8/JNK and NF-κB pathways.
This complex also interacts with inhibitor-of-apoptosis proteins (IAPs), mediating anti-apoptotic signaling from TNF receptors.
Expression of TRAF1 can be induced by Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), and its interaction with LMP1 is linked to B lymphocyte transformation signaling.
Three transcript variants encoding two different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
