Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes the p28 subunit either as part of a p28/EBI-3 heterodimer or as a free subunit.
Target Information
IL-27 (Interleukin 27) is a cytokine belonging to the IL-12 family, composed of EBI3 and p28 subunits. It is produced by activated dendritic cells and macrophages in response to Toll-like receptor ligands and pro-inflammatory cytokines.
IL-27 promotes CD4+ T cell differentiation to the Th1 lineage by inducing T-bet expression and upregulating IL-12Rβ2, suppressing Th2 and Th17 differentiation and proliferation.
It acts via WSX-1 and gp130 receptors, activating Jak/STAT signaling, and is involved in immune regulation. IL-27 may have therapeutic potential against cancer by inducing tumor-specific CD8+ T-cell responses mediated through IFN-γ and T-bet.
In humans, the IL-27 gene is located on the p arm of chromosome 16.
