Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human CNTF. Anti-Human CNTF-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.

Sandwich ELISA:
For detection of Human CNTF by sandwich ELISA (100 µL/well antibody solution), use 0.25–1.0 µg/mL of this antibody. When used with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Human CNTF (500-P140) as a capture antibody, it enables detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Human CNTF.

Western Blot:
For detection of hCNTF by Western Blot, use 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. When used with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant hCNTF is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

The protein encoded by this gene is a polypeptide hormone primarily active in the nervous system, promoting neurotransmitter synthesis and neurite outgrowth in specific neuronal populations. It acts as a potent survival factor for neurons and oligodendrocytes and may help reduce tissue destruction during inflammatory attacks.
A mutation in this gene causing aberrant splicing leads to ciliary neurotrophic factor deficiency, though not directly associated with neurologic disease. A read-through transcript variant composed of ZFP91 and CNTF sequences has been identified but is considered non-coding. Similar read-through transcription has been observed in mouse.
