Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human IL-13. Anti-Human IL-13-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Human IL-13 by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.25–1.0 µg/mL is required. This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Human IL-13 (500-P13) as a capture antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Human IL-13.

Western Blot:
To detect Human IL-13 by Western Blot analysis, use at a concentration of 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. When used with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant Human IL-13 is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

IL-13 is an immunoregulatory cytokine produced primarily by activated Th2 cells and is involved in regulating inflammatory and immune responses. It down-regulates macrophage activity, inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines, and plays a role in allergen-induced asthma through mechanisms independent of IgE and eosinophils.
IL-13 also regulates B cell maturation and differentiation, up-regulates CD23 and MHC class II expression, and promotes IgE isotype switching of B cells. Structurally, IL-13 closely resembles IL-3, IL-4, IL-5, and GM-CSF. The IL13, IL3, IL5, IL4, and CSF2 genes form a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 5q, with IL13 located near IL4.
