Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human IL-13. Anti-Human IL-13-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.

Sandwich ELISA:
For detection of Human IL-13 by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.25–1.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required.
This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, used with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Human IL-13 (500-P13) as a capture antibody, detects at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Human IL-13.

Western Blot:
To detect hIL-13 by Western Blot, use at 0.1–0.2 µg/mL.
With compatible secondary reagents, detection limit for Recombinant hIL-13 is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

IL-13 is an immunoregulatory cytokine produced primarily by activated Th2 cells and involved in regulating inflammatory and immune responses. It down-regulates macrophage activity, inhibiting pro-inflammatory cytokine and chemokine production, and plays a role in allergen-induced asthma independent of IgE and eosinophils.
IL-13 also regulates B cell maturation and differentiation, up-regulates CD23 and MHC class II expression, and promotes IgE isotype switching. Structurally, IL-13 resembles IL-3, IL-4, IL-5, and GM-CSF. The IL-13 gene is located on chromosome 5q, near IL4 within the cytokine gene cluster.
