PA1-4104 detects human and bovine respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
It has been successfully used in Western blot applications.
The immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues F(483) P S D E F(488) C of human and bovine RSV, a sequence fully conserved among all known species.

Target Information

Human respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) belongs to the Paramyxoviridae family, subfamily Pneumovirinae, and causes common respiratory tract infections.
Its genome is a single-stranded, negative-sense RNA encoding three envelope glycoproteins:

• SH (small hydrophobic) protein – function unknown
• G (glycoprotein) – attachment protein
• F (fusion) protein – responsible for membrane fusion and syncytia formation

RSV typically causes mild symptoms in adults but is a major cause of lower respiratory tract infections and hospitalizations in infants and young children.
