Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human/Murine/Rat BDNF. Anti-Human/Murine/Rat BDNF-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Human BDNF by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.25–1.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required. This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Human BDNF (500-P84) as a capture antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Human BDNF.

Western Blot:
To detect hBDNF by Western Blot analysis, this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant hBDNF is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor) is a member of the neurotrophin family. It is synthesized as pre-proBDNF, followed by cleavage to proBDNF. Both pro-BDNF and the mature 14 kDa form are biologically active and secreted in synaptic vesicles. BDNF acts primarily through the TrkB receptor and, to a lesser extent, p75-NTR. It promotes neuronal survival, differentiation, and synaptic plasticity, playing a key role in memory formation and regulation. Reduced expression of BDNF has been observed in Alzheimer’s and Huntington’s disease, and it may influence stress response and mood disorders.
