Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human/Murine/Rat BDNF. The anti-BDNF antibody was purified by affinity chromatography using immobilized Human/Murine/Rat BDNF matrix.

Sandwich ELISA:
For detection of Human/Murine/Rat BDNF by sandwich ELISA (100 µL/well antibody solution), use 0.5–2.0 µg/mL of this antibody. In conjunction with PeproTech Biotinylated Anti-Human/Murine/Rat BDNF (500-P84Bt) as a detection antibody, it detects at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of recombinant BDNF.

Western Blot:
For detection of Human BDNF, use 0.1–0.2 µg/mL of this antibody. Detection limit for recombinant BDNF is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor) is a member of the neurotrophin family, synthesized as pre-proBDNF and processed to proBDNF and mature BDNF. Both forms are biologically active and secreted in synaptic vesicles.
BDNF acts via the TrkB receptor and low-affinity p75-NTR receptor, promoting neuronal survival, differentiation, and synaptic regulation.
It plays a key role in memory formation and is reduced in Alzheimer’s and Huntington’s disease. BDNF also contributes to stress response and mood regulation.
