Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure recombinant Human/Murine/Rat BDNF. The anti-Human/Murine/Rat BDNF-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and subsequently biotinylated.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Human BDNF by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.25–1.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required. This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Human BDNF (500-P84) as a capture antibody, allows detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Human BDNF.

Western Blot:
To detect hBDNF by Western Blot analysis, use at a concentration of 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. With compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant hBDNF is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor) is a member of the neurotrophin family. It is synthesized as pre-proBDNF, cleaved to proBDNF, and further processed to the mature 14 kDa protein. Both proBDNF and mature BDNF are biologically active and secreted in synaptic vesicles. BDNF is widely expressed in the central nervous system, acting autocrinely and paracrinely on neurons. It signals mainly through the TrkB receptor and also binds to p75-NTR. BDNF promotes neuronal survival, differentiation, and synaptic regulation, and plays a key role in memory formation. Reduced expression has been observed in Alzheimer’s and Huntington’s disease and may influence stress response and mood regulation.
