Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
Human pregnancy-specific glycoproteins (PSG) are a group of closely related secreted glycoproteins highly expressed in placental syncytiotrophoblast cells of fetal origin. PSGs are commonly expressed in trophoblast-origin tumors such as hydatidiform mole and choriocarcinoma. They represent the most abundant fetal protein in maternal blood at term.
The eleven human PSG genes (PSG1–PSG11) form, together with the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA)-related cell adhesion molecule (CEACAM) genes, the CEACAM gene family. PSGs stimulate secretion of TH2-type cytokines from monocytes, and CD9 has been identified as the monocyte receptor for murine PSG17. PSGs are thought to modulate the maternal immune system during pregnancy, protecting the semiallotypic fetus from rejection.
