Target Information

Anaplastic Lymphoma Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (ALK) belongs to the insulin receptor superfamily and is essential for brain development.
Mutations, rearrangements, and amplifications in the ALK gene are associated with several tumors, including anaplastic large cell lymphoma, neuroblastoma, and non-small cell lung cancer.

Chromosomal rearrangement often results in the NPM-ALK fusion gene, where the 3′ portion of ALK (from chromosome 2) fuses with the 5′ portion of NPM (from chromosome 5).
The NPM-ALK fusion protein exhibits oncogenic properties.

ALK encodes a receptor protein-tyrosine kinase with transmembrane and extracellular domains, showing high sequence similarity to LTK.
It plays a significant role in neural development and functions in specific neurons of the nervous system.
