Target Information
CDC25A is a member of the CDC25 family of phosphatases. Three CDC25 genes (CDC25A, CDC25B, CDC25C) are present in human cells and function at different phases of the cell cycle.
CDC25A is required for progression through G1 and S phases by activating cyclin-dependent kinase CDC2 through dephosphorylation.
CDC25A is specifically degraded in response to DNA damage, preventing abnormal cells from dividing. It is considered an oncogene, though its precise role in oncogenesis remains unclear.
