Target Information
ALDH3B2 (aldehyde dehydrogenase 3 family, member B2), also known as ALDH8, is a 385 amino acid enzyme involved in the NADP⁺-dependent conversion of aldehydes into acids, contributing to alcohol metabolism pathways.
It is expressed in salivary gland tissue and encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 11, which contains over 1,400 genes and comprises nearly 4% of the human genome.
Defects in genes on chromosome 11 are associated with various syndromes, including Jervell and Lange-Nielsen syndrome, Jacobsen syndrome, Niemann-Pick disease, hereditary angioedema, and Smith-Lemli-Opitz syndrome.
