Target Information
Adenine nucleotide translocator (ANT) and voltage-dependent anion-selective channel proteins (VDAC1, VDAC2) are components of the permeability transition pore complex (PTPC) in mitochondrial membranes.
Formation of PTPCs and cytochrome c release are key events in apoptosis.
Bax acts upon ANT to induce dissipation of mitochondrial inner membrane potential.
ANT1 plays a role in maintaining mitochondrial DNA by catalyzing ADP/ATP exchange across the inner membrane.
