Product Specific Information
MA1-40180 detects SAA from human and mouse samples.
It is raised against human SAA and Helix Pomatia Haemocyanine, reacting specifically with SAA-1, the major isoform of SAA in plasma.
MA1-40180 has been successfully used in immunohistochemistry (frozen and paraffin), western blot, and immunoassay applications.
It is recommended that users test the reagent and determine their own optimal dilutions.
The immunogen used is human SAA.
Target Information
The serum amyloid A (SAA) family includes several differentially expressed apolipoproteins, primarily acute-phase SAA1 and SAA2, with SAA1 being the major plasma component.
Although the liver is the main site of synthesis, extrahepatic production has also been observed.
During inflammation, in vivo SAA concentrations can increase up to 1000-fold.
SAA levels are important for diagnosis and monitoring of various diseases, often rising earlier and more sharply than CRP.
Recent studies have expanded understanding of SAA expression and function.
