MA1-40183 detects CD46 from human samples.
This antibody has been successfully used in flow cytometry, immunoprecipitation, functional assays, immunohistochemistry (frozen), and Western blot applications.
The immunogen is purified MCP.
Endotoxin level: <24 EU/mg.
Positive control: CD46 is expressed on every cell and tissue.
Negative control: Erythrocytes.
Target Information
CD46 (MCP, membrane cofactor protein) is a multifunctional cell surface transmembrane protein that binds and inactivates C3b and C4b complement fragments.
It regulates T cell-induced inflammatory responses by either inhibiting (CD46-1 isoform) or enhancing (CD46-2 isoform) the contact hypersensitivity reaction.
CD46 also serves as a receptor for several human pathogens (both bacteria and viruses), and its ligation alters T lymphocyte polarization toward antigen-presenting or target cells, modulating immune function.
It protects placental tissue and is expressed on the inner acrosomal membrane of spermatozoa.
