MA1-40181 detects SAA from human samples.
It is raised against human SAA and Helix Pomatia Haemocyanine, reacting specifically with SAA-1, the major isoform of SAA in plasma.
MA1-40181 has been successfully used in immunohistochemistry (frozen and paraffin) applications.
The immunogen is human SAA.
Target Information
The serum amyloid A (SAA) family includes several differentially expressed apolipoproteins, such as acute-phase SAA1 and SAA2. SAA1 is the major plasma component, while constitutive SAAs are also present.
The liver is the main site of synthesis, but extrahepatic production occurs. SAA concentrations can increase up to 1000-fold during inflammation.
SAA is important in disease diagnosis and monitoring, often rising earlier and more sharply than CRP.
Recent studies have broadened understanding of SAA expression and function.
