Target Information

RPS6KB1 (p70S6K) is a serine/threonine kinase with two non-identical catalytic domains that phosphorylates several residues of the S6 ribosomal protein. It is predominantly localized in the cytoplasm and plays essential roles in cell growth, proliferation, motility, immune response, and tissue repair.
p70 S6 kinase acts downstream of PI3-kinase, with the S6 ribosomal protein as its main physiological target, promoting protein synthesis and cell proliferation. Amplification and overexpression of p70 S6 kinase are observed in certain breast cancer cell lines.
