Recombinant rabbit Superclonal™ antibodies are unique offerings from Thermo Fisher Scientific. They consist of multiple different recombinant monoclonal antibodies, combining the sensitivity of polyclonal antibodies with the specificity of monoclonal antibodies, and ensuring batch-to-batch consistency only achievable with recombinant production.
Functionally similar to polyclonal antibodies, they recognize multiple epitope sites on the target and provide higher detection sensitivity for low-abundance targets. Each lot is produced with a defined mixture of light and heavy chains, eliminating biological variability typical of polyclonal antibody production.
Note: Formerly called “Recombinant polyclonal antibody”, this product is now rebranded as “Recombinant Superclonal™ antibody”. The physical product and performance remain unchanged.
Target Information
IL-17F (Interleukin 17F, CTLA-8) is a cytokine of the IL-17 family produced by inflammatory cells such as activated T cells, mast cells, and basophils. It plays a key role in allergic airway inflammation and induces cytokines, chemokines, and adhesion molecules in bronchial epithelial cells, endothelial cells, fibroblasts, and eosinophils.
IL-17F may form homodimers or heterodimers with IL-17A and acts via the IL-17R receptor, recruiting monocytes and neutrophils through enhanced chemokine production. It stimulates pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, and IL-8, and is implicated in chronic inflammatory diseases including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and multiple sclerosis.
TGF-β and IL-23 are required for Th17 cell induction and maintenance, which further promote pro-inflammatory cytokine production. IL-17F is expressed by activated effector memory T cells and has been reported to inhibit endothelial cell angiogenesis while inducing IL2, TGFB1, and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 expression.
