Target Information

Visfatin, also known as pre-B cell colony-enhancing factor, is an adipocytokine secreted by visceral adipose tissue with insulin-mimetic effects. It binds to insulin receptors, reduces glucose release from liver cells, and stimulates glucose utilization in adipocytes and myocytes. Visfatin also enhances cell proliferation, supports biosynthesis of nicotinamide mono- and dinucleotide, and contributes to glucose homeostasis.
