- Mouse anti-Human CD9 antibody, clone MM2/57, recognizes human leukocyte antigen MIC3 (also known as MRP-1 or CD9).
Target Information
CD9 antigen is a glycoprotein expressed on developing B lymphocytes, platelets, monocytes, eosinophils, basophils, stimulated T lymphocytes, neurons, and glial cells.
It belongs to the tetraspanin family, spanning the membrane four times. In pre-B cells and platelets, CD9 regulates activation and aggregation, possibly through association with integrin CD41/CD61 (GPIIb/GPIIIa).
CD9 is involved in:
- Cell motility, osteoclastogenesis, neurite outgrowth, myotube formation, sperm-egg fusion
- Cell attachment, proliferation, and differentiation
- Association of heterologous MHC II molecules on dendritic cells for effective T cell stimulation
- Suppression of cancer cell motility and metastasis (acts as a metastasis suppressor in solid tumors)
