Mouse anti-Sheep CD31 antibody, clone CO.3E1D4 recognizes ovine CD31 (PECAM-1). Ovine CD31 is predominantly expressed by peripheral blood platelets and a small percentage of lymphocytes.
Target Information
CD31 (platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1, PECAM-1) is an inhibitory coreceptor involved in regulation of T cell and B cell signaling via dual immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motifs (ITIM). Upon phosphorylation, these motifs provide docking sites for protein-tyrosine phosphatases.
CD31 is expressed ubiquitously within the vascular compartment and located mainly at junctions between adjacent cells. Its N-terminal Ig-like domain mediates homophilic binding, essential for cell-cell interactions.
CD31 plays diverse roles in:
- Integrin-mediated cell adhesion
- Transendothelial migration
- Angiogenesis and apoptosis
- Negative regulation of immunoreceptor signaling
- Autoimmunity and macrophage phagocytosis
- IgE-mediated anaphylaxis and thrombosis
It is a key regulatory molecule in the vascular system.
