Description:
The MAb11 antibody reacts with human tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNFα), a 17 kDa cytokine produced by monocytes, macrophages, neutrophils, NK cells, and CD4⁺ T cells. TNFα exhibits cytolytic activity against various tumor cells and plays a key role in immune regulation. It forms dimers and trimers and also exists as a 26 kDa membrane-bound form. The MAb11 antibody is a neutralizing antibody.

Tested by intracellular staining and flow cytometric analysis of stimulated human peripheral blood cells using the Intracellular Fixation & Permeabilization Buffer Set (Product #88-8824-00) and the BestProtocols® Protocol A.

Target Information

TNF alpha (Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha):
A multifunctional proinflammatory cytokine belonging to the TNF superfamily. Secreted mainly by macrophages, it binds to receptors TNFRSF1A/TNFR1 and TNFRSF1B/TNFBR. TNFα regulates immune responses, cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, and metabolism. It exists as multimeric forms (dimers, trimers, pentamers) but appears as a single 17 kDa band under non-reducing SDS-PAGE.
TNFα exhibits tumoricidal activity, synergizes with interferon-gamma, and is implicated in autoimmune diseases, insulin resistance, and cancer.
