Product Specific Information

The MP1-22E9 antibody reacts with mouse granulocyte/macrophage-colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF) and acts as a neutralizing antibody.
Mouse GM-CSF is a 14 kDa factor produced mainly by activated T cells and macrophages, and also secreted by endothelial and fibroblast cells in response to TNF-α, IL-2, IL-1, and IFN-γ.
GM-CSF stimulates growth of macrophages, granulocytes, and dendritic cells. It exists both as a membrane-bound form and as a complex associated with the extracellular matrix. Non-glycosylated GM-CSF is biologically active.

Applications Reported: Intracellular staining followed by flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Intracellular staining of restimulated mouse splenocytes, recommended ≤ 0.5 µg/test.
Excitation: 633–647 nm; Emission: 660 nm; Laser: Red Laser.

Target Information

The GM-CSF gene encodes a cytokine regulating production, differentiation, and function of macrophages and granulocytes.
The active form exists as a homodimer in extracellular space.
Located at chromosome region 5q31, associated with 5q- syndrome and acute myelogenous leukemia.
This region also includes IL-4, IL-5, and IL-13 genes, involved in tissue inflammation.
Elevated GM-CSF levels have been observed in SARS-CoV-2 infected patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome.
Mice lacking GM-CSF or its receptor develop pulmonary alveolar proteinosis.
