Target Information
STING is a 379 amino acid signaling protein that plays a key role in innate immune signaling. It activates NF-κB and IRF3 pathways to induce type I interferon (IFN-α and IFN-β) expression, establishing an antiviral state. STING may function as a translocon influencing interferon induction and apoptotic signaling through its association with MHC-II. It mediates detection of intracellular viral RNA and B-form DNA, and activates the ERK pathway for death signaling. STING is localized in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, cell membrane, and mitochondrial outer membrane, and is ubiquitously expressed in most tissues.
