Target Information
STING (Stimulator of Interferon Genes) is a 379 amino acid signaling protein essential for innate immune responses. It activates NF-κB and IRF3 transcription pathways, inducing type I interferons (IFN-α and IFN-β) and promoting antiviral states. STING may function as a translocon involved in interferon induction and apoptotic signal transduction via MHC-II association. It helps detect intracellular viral RNA and B-form DNA and mediates death signaling through ERK pathway activation. STING is located in the endoplasmic reticulum, cell membrane, and mitochondrial outer membrane, and is ubiquitously expressed across tissues.
