Galectin-1은 렉틴(lectin)으로 불리는 탄수화물 결합 단백질 계열에 속합니다. 단량체 또는 동량체 형태로 존재하며 다양한 세포와 조직에서 발견됩니다. Galectin-1은 세포 성장 및 증식을 조절하고, 활성화된 T 세포의 세포자멸사를 유도하며, 사이토카인 분비를 조절하거나 염증성 사이토카인 생성을 억제할 수 있습니다. 급성 및 만성 염증 과정에서 중요한 역할을 합니다.
