Product Specific Information

  • Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature (RT).
  • Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at RT for 20 min.

Target Information

The leptin (OB-R) receptor is a member of the cytokine receptor superfamily, playing a critical role in mammalian body weight homeostasis and energy balance. Ligand-induced activation of OB-R by leptin triggers downstream signaling through the JAK/STAT pathway. Several isoforms of OB-R with varying signaling capabilities exist. The long form of OB-R is expressed in the choroid plexus and hypothalamus, areas involved in satiety and energy expenditure control. Mutations in OB-R (db) or leptin (ob) genes in mice cause early-onset obesity and metabolic abnormalities such as hyperinsulinemia, insulin resistance, hyperglycemia, and increased adipose tissue.
