Target Information
Neurogenin 1 (NeuroG1) is a basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factor involved in cell fate determination during development.
It plays dual roles in neurogenesis and inhibition of astrocyte differentiation. NeuroG1 promotes neuronal differentiation by acting as a transcriptional activator and inhibits astrocyte formation by sequestering CREB-binding protein complexes and suppressing STAT transcription factors essential for gliogenesis.
