Target Information
PDGFRB is a receptor tyrosine kinase implicated in atherogenesis and cell transformation by the SIS oncogene. These growth factors are mitogens for cells of mesenchymal origin. The receptor may form homodimers or heterodimers with PDGF receptor alpha, depending on the bound growth factor.
The PDGFRB gene is located on chromosome 5, adjacent to genes encoding granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor and macrophage colony-stimulating factor receptor, and may be involved in the 5-q syndrome.
A translocation between chromosomes 5 and 12 that fuses PDGFRB (CD140b) with the ETV6 leukemia gene can result in chronic myeloproliferative disorder with eosinophilia.
