Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes the canine CD8 beta cell surface antigen, expressed by cytotoxic/suppressor T lymphocytes that interact with MHC Class I expressing targets.
Target Information
The CD8B antigen is a cell surface glycoprotein found on most cytotoxic T lymphocytes that mediates efficient cell-cell interactions within the immune system. The CD8 antigen acts as a coreceptor with the T-cell receptor to recognize antigens presented by antigen-presenting cells (APCs) in the context of class I MHC molecules. The functional coreceptor can be a homodimer of two alpha chains or a heterodimer of one alpha and one beta chain. Both alpha and beta chains share significant homology to immunoglobulin variable light chains. This gene encodes the CD8 beta chain isoforms, with multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct membrane-associated or secreted isoforms. A pseudogene located on chromosome 2 has also been identified.
