This antibody recognizes a different epitope on the CD8 beta chain compared to clone PPT22.
Target Information
The CD8B antigen is a cell surface glycoprotein expressed on most cytotoxic T lymphocytes. It mediates efficient cell-cell interactions within the immune system. CD8 acts as a coreceptor with the T-cell receptor to recognize antigens presented by class I MHC molecules on antigen-presenting cells. The functional coreceptor can be a homodimer (two alpha chains) or a heterodimer (one alpha and one beta chain). Both chains share homology with immunoglobulin variable light chains. The CD8B gene encodes the beta chain isoforms, with multiple alternatively spliced variants producing distinct membrane-associated or secreted forms. A related pseudogene is also located on chromosome 2.
