Product Specific Information

The APB5 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse CD140b molecule, the beta chain of the platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGF receptor). PDGFRβ is a receptor tyrosine kinase that forms dimers upon ligand binding and phosphorylates substrates. Dimers can be alpha/alpha, beta/beta, or alpha/beta heterodimers. CD140b is expressed in embryonic tissues and mesenchymal-derived cells in adult mouse tissues and is implicated in fibrous atherosclerotic lesion formation.

• Applications Tested: Flow cytometric analysis of NIH/3T3 cells, ≤1 µg/test (in 100 µL volume). Cell number: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test. Antibody titration recommended for optimal performance.

Target Information

PDGFRB is a receptor tyrosine kinase involved in atherogenesis and cell transformation by the SIS oncogene. It acts as a mitogen for mesenchymal-origin cells. Ligand identity determines receptor dimer type (α/α, β/β, or α/β). The PDGFRB gene on chromosome 5 is flanked by GM-CSF and M-CSFR genes, all implicated in 5-q syndrome. A translocation between chromosomes 5 and 12 fusing PDGFRB and ETV6 leads to chronic myeloproliferative disorder with eosinophilia.
