Product Specific Information
The BV13 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse VE-Cadherin (CD144), a 120 kDa type II cadherin family member. VE-Cadherin mediates homophilic adhesion between endothelial cells and is localized at adherens junctions. It is constitutively expressed throughout the vasculature and is essential for endothelial cell migration, survival, and organization into tubular structures. VE-Cadherin⁺CD45⁻ cells from yolk sac or AGM regions may give rise to hematopoietic cells.
Applications Reported: Flow cytometry, Western blot, and immunohistology of frozen sections.
Applications Tested: Tested by flow cytometric analysis of bEnd.3 cells at ≤1 µg/test (final volume 100 µL). Optimal titration recommended.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.
Target Information
VE-Cadherin is a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein located on chromosome 16. It comprises five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail. It plays a crucial role in endothelial cell cohesion and intercellular junction organization. An alternative splice variant has been described, though the full-length sequence remains undetermined.
