In Western blot, this antibody detects a ~70 kDa band in human heart tissue lysate.
Target Information
BACE2 (Beta Secretase 2) is responsible for the proteolytic processing of amyloid precursor protein (APP).
It cleaves APP between residues 690–691, leading to generation and extracellular release of beta-cleaved soluble APP.
BACE2 also cleaves APP between residues 671–672.
Accumulation of APP is a hallmark of Alzheimer’s disease and a frequent complication in adult Down syndrome patients.
