Target Information

Ribosomes are organelles that catalyze protein synthesis and consist of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit. These subunits include four RNA species and approximately 80 distinct proteins.
The RPS15 gene encodes a ribosomal protein that is part of the 40S subunit and belongs to the S19P family. It is located in the cytoplasm and has been found to be activated in several tumor types, including insulinomas, esophageal cancers, and colon cancers.
As typical for ribosomal protein genes, multiple processed pseudogenes are dispersed throughout the genome. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
