Target Information
Ribosomes are organelles that catalyze protein synthesis and consist of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit. These subunits comprise 4 RNA species and about 80 distinct proteins.
This gene encodes a ribosomal protein that is part of the 40S subunit and belongs to the S12E family. It is localized in the cytoplasm. Increased expression has been observed in colorectal cancers compared to normal colonic mucosa. Multiple processed pseudogenes are dispersed throughout the genome, as typical for ribosomal protein genes.
