RIMS1 (Regulating synaptic membrane exocytosis protein 1)는 시냅스 소포의 방출을 조절하는 RAS 유전자 초가족 단백질입니다.
이 단백질은 신경전달물질 및 인슐린 분비 과정에서 전압 개폐 칼슘 채널의 조절에도 관여합니다.
RIMS1 유전자 변이는 인지 기능 이상 및 cone-rod dystrophy type 7의 원인으로 알려져 있습니다.
또한 RIMS1은 시냅스 활성 영역에서 신경전달물질 방출을 조절하는 스캐폴드 단백질로 작용하며, 단기 시냅스 가소성 동안 방출 확률을 유지하는 데 중요합니다.
멜라닌세포의 수상돌기 형성에도 관여하며, 다양한 전사체 변이가 보고되어 있습니다.
RIMS1 관련 질환으로는 Cone-Rod Dystrophy 7 및 Retinitis Pigmentosa가 있습니다.
