Target Information
Ribosomes are organelles that catalyze protein synthesis, composed of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit. These subunits contain 4 RNA species and about 80 distinct proteins. The RPS15 gene encodes a ribosomal protein of the 40S subunit, belonging to the S19P family, and is located in the cytoplasm. It has been found activated in various tumors, including insulinomas, esophageal cancers, and colon cancers. As typical for ribosomal protein genes, multiple processed pseudogenes are dispersed throughout the genome. Alternative splicing leads to multiple transcript variants.
