Target Information

IL-17F (Interleukin 17F, CTLA-8) is a cytokine of the IL-17 family produced by inflammatory cells such as activated T cells, mast cells, and basophils.
It plays a role in allergic airway inflammation and induces cytokines, chemokines, and adhesion molecules in bronchial epithelial cells, endothelial cells, fibroblasts, and eosinophils.
IL-17F may form homodimers or heterodimers with IL-17A, binding to the IL-17R receptor to recruit monocytes and neutrophils through chemokine induction.
It also stimulates pro-inflammatory cytokines including TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, and IL-8, and is implicated in chronic inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and multiple sclerosis.
Th17 cell differentiation and maintenance depend on TGF-β and IL-23, which promote IL-17 production.
IL-17F, one of six IL-17 family members (A–F), is highly expressed by activated effector memory T cells and inhibits endothelial cell angiogenesis while inducing IL2, TGFB1, and MCP-1 production.
