Description:
Monoclonal antibody 10F7MN recognizes human glycophorin A (CD235a), detecting both M and N alleles. Glycophorin A is a 151 amino acid sialoglycoprotein found on erythrocyte and erythroid progenitor membranes (~500,000 copies per cell). The gene resides on chromosome 4 with two allelic forms (M and N) differing by two amino acids: M (Ser1, Gly5), N (Leu1, Glu5). Mutations or allele loss may cause phenotypic changes and are being studied for links to cancer and heart disease.

Applications Reported:
Validated for flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Pre-titrated and tested on normal human blood cells. Recommended usage: 5 µL (0.25 µg)/test in 100 µL final volume. Cell number range: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.

488 nm / 520 nm / Blue laser.

Filtration:
0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.

Target Information

CD235a (Glycophorin A, GPA) is a single-pass membrane sialoglycoprotein expressed in mature erythrocytes and erythroid precursor cells. It carries blood group M and N specificities and provides a mucin-like barrier preventing RBC aggregation. It also acts as a receptor for Sandei virus, parvovirus, and Streptococcus adhesin Hsa.
